How to survive a traditional Indian wedding

by Lloyd Ortiz

1. Accept all of the reality checks.

Do you want to wear that pretty wedding veil from Malaysia? That may be perfect for your
wedding ceremony, but you need assess if it’s perfect for your budget. Stick to a specific budget,
and be grateful no matter what the outcome is.

2. Get to know the in-laws before the wedding

A dream wedding is way beyond all the material things. Spend quality time with family
members, especially your in-laws, weeks before the special day. That way, you can ensure that
you are comfortable and happy during the wedding ceremony.

3. Focus on your health.

Drink lots of water and healthy months before your wedding. During the special day, you
wouldn’t be able to eat a lot, so your body must be ready. A healthy bride is a happy bride.
Exercise 15 to minute each day, and follow a pre-wedding diet plan. That can make a dramatic
change not only in your physical appearance–it will also boost your confidence and self-esteem.

4. Listen to the all the wisdom that will be shared to you.

Words of wisdom would be imparted to you right and left. Whether you like it or not, just say
yes and smile. You will not like everything, but, at the end of the day, you just need to
acknowledge everything. Just thank them for their marriage tips.

5. When it comes to dealing with rituals, fake it until you make it.

It’s true that some rituals are irrelevant. You need to deal with tons of customs that don’t mean
anything to you. Just like with the marriage advice, just say yes and smile.

6. Marry a boy you really love.

The wedding ceremony is important, but the marriage is what matters the most. You will endure
everything if you are with the love of your life. It doesn’t matter how lavish or simple the
wedding event is, as long as you are happy and contented.
