Affiliate marketing certainly has gone a long way. From a purely content-based marketing strategy to influencers and social media, there are a lot of new changes in recent years. Of course, there are some years where the industry remained somewhat stagnant, but you can be assured that there are some changes, albeit some of them are minor at best. Today, I am going to go over some of the affiliate marketing trends for 2019.
1. Mobile Devices Play a Larger Role
According to Google, most of the internet users nowadays use mobile devices over their desktop counterparts. This just means that whenever someone decides to go with affiliate marketing and create a website for themselves that they have to make sure that their platform is mobile-friendly.
2. Voice Search Will Be a Huge Thing
Gone are the days where keywords are only meant for content as you will also have to think about long-tail keywords as well. The reason is that voice search is going to be huge in the coming years. The reason why it is going to be popular is due to the proliferation of Siri and Alexa and other IoT devices going mainstream. Affiliate marketers would have to make sure that their chosen keywords come out as naturally as possible.
3. Content is ‘Still’ King
Content is definitely still going to be king and it is still the main driving force of affiliate marketing. However, you have to structure it in a different way for you to get the best results. Instead of product reviews, you’d also want to make sure that you provide people with some data as well. According to an article, content that contains some data or a study about the product is more likely going to sell than those who do not have such things.
4. Small Affiliate Networks Will Be Known
Because of the sheer number of new affiliate marketers, opting for large affiliate networks will no longer cut it. Therefore, small affiliate networks will become prominent as a means of catering to new marketers in the industry.
5. Push Notifications Will Be Huge
Aside from sending email newsletters, push notifications will certainly be another strong marketing tool that affiliates can use. The reason why it is going to be more prominent is due to the fact that people now have access to mobile devices more than ever before.
6. The Rise of SaaS
As more and more businesses adopt a subscription-based model, the rise of Software-as-a-Service products is inevitable.
7. Social Proof Matters a Lot
Product review articles have sprung up a lot ever since affiliate marketing became quite popular. And, because there are so many reviews whose only intention is to sell, people are now more keen on user reviews instead. Social proof is a powerful thing and it truly matters in this day and age. As a marketer, you have to make sure that you are truthful in everything you see because if people find out that you are lying, your reputation will be tainted as a result.
8.More Video Content
As I’ve said before, content is still king, provided that you create more videos instead of written content. More and more people have access to mobile devices and faster internet connections, so you should expect that video content will be the new king of the block.
