5 Things You Need to Know Before Starting a Blog

by Lloyd Ortiz

You can make money by blogging and it is very easy to get a blog up and running. In fact, you only need a couple of minutes to do that.

But, even though it is quite easy nowadays to build your own blog from scratch, it is another thing to make it successful where you can earn money from it.

Today, I am going to give you the things that you need to know before starting your own blog.

It is a Process

You should know that even though you can earn money by blogging that it is not the best way to earn it. There are plenty of avenues where you can earn more in far less time such as selling products online, for example.

Blogging, at least in the sense of earning money, requires a lot of time and effort to become successful. Not a lot of people have the patience nor the determination to become better at this, so if you are the same type of person, I suggest that you look somewhere else.

It is Not for Free

At least, when it comes to setting up a professional blog. You see, I started blogging using a WordPress website and for a time, I did enjoy some success.

However, search engine optimization techniques have changed over the years and you are required to have a more professional blog as opposed to just the run of the mill ones.

That being said, you need to spend some money in order for you to get your own domain, as well as build your blog in the best way possible.

I highly recommend that you look at Wix and Squarespace as they have the best options for you to create your own blog.

Select a Niche

After you have successfully created your blog, it is now time to think about a target audience. For you to do that, you have to select a niche or an industry where you can provide true and accurate information.

Now, I know that you want to gain as much traction as possible, but it would be the best thing to start with your target audience as opposed to thinking about catering to a much larger crowd.

Content is King

Many bloggers of yesteryears were required to write as many articles as they can per week. That is because their blog’s SEO would require them to give updated information from time to time.

Although that was the case before, things have changed. For SEO to work on your blog, you actually have to think about providing quality articles as opposed to publishing a lot in a given time frame.

Think about writing a more in-depth article instead of worrying about releasing plenty of subpar articles.

Stay True to Your Brand

Your blog should be a reflection of who you are as a person. Although it is required that you give something of value to your readers; it is also important for you to exude your confidence and personality.

Remember that your blog is your brand and always have a consistent message all throughout your blogging journey.
